_According to report at CNET
, The Universal Music Group has filed a lawsuit against Grooveshark ,
and online music service. The complaint claims that the management at
Grooveshark has uploaded over 100,000 songs to this online music
service, It has been reported that Universal is seeking the maxium in
damages which is $150,000 per act. Universal also claims they have
evidence of thousands of these songs being uploaded by the company's
executives. The content in the spot light is only a portion of
Grooveshark’s catalog. One issue which may come to haunt them is the
company allows their users to upload content to the website , and if
content that violates copyright is known about it must be blocked or
removed as you’ll read more below. This is not the first incident
between these two company's (And may not be the last?) , a lawsuit which
was filed last year Universal claimed Grooveshark violates copyright by
providing free access to its pre-1972 recordings.
